Hey all.
I appologize if this topic was created all ready, but I wasn't sure how to word it technically speaking or how to find out if something like this was all ready created, but I am sure someone can help me out with this regardless. I am trying to find software or a program that allows me to add sounds, music, and other features to a recording. I know some people have created audio profiles with such cool features, but I could use a little educating on how to do it. Free software is recommended, but I am willing to spend some money on something if it isn't too expensive and is worth the cost. Please leave some links, and let me know what to look for in the feature. Thanks.
Meant future. Lol.
Gold Wav will allow you to do this and has an extensive help file for screen readers.
It can be free or you can pay for the better vbersion.
www.goldwav.com
I believe that is the web site.
I know of others, but they are more expensive then you'd want to pay just for minor projects.
If I'm wrong on the address just search for it with your search engine.
Thanks. I'll check that one out.
I've been using Goldwave for a few weeks now for this very thing. I love it!
They have a 1 year version for $19.99 or you can buy a lifetime license for $49.99. The evaluation copy will let you do 150 commands. The help file is good. Another thing I did was press the jaws command for "list hotkeys" and copy all that info into a word document for easier reference.
You can mix sounds, use a voiceover feature for adding a announcement to something, etc.
Good luck!
I'm still pretty much a recording novis but will be happy to answer any questions I can.
Thanks! This will be an interesting challenge. The first thing I want to do once I get it figured out is change up my audio profile. I want to sing something, while the song without the singer plays in the background. Once I have the program if I have any questions I'll let you know.
That'll be cool.
It's really pretty easy to figure out, as evidenced by the fact that I, a complete novis, have managed to do so. lol
I use Sony Sound Forge 8. They have a newer version than 8 out now. there are scripts for GoldWave and SF.
I know Jim Snowbarger (SnowManRadio.com) has scripts for Sound Forge, and I believe Brian Hartgen (somebody help me out with spelling here?) has scripts for Gold Wave.
There will only be certain songs you'll be able to do that with Ryan, unless you already have a kerokie version.

Gold Wav claims it is accessible out of the box and they have spent much time explaining it. Are the scripts necessary?
I dont know. I never used the scripts are GoldWave, just remember scripts being available years ago. or was that set files for WE.
I think they make it more responsive. It is accessible but more so with the scripts. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me. I'm still fairly new to the program myself and as I've stated before, I'm not overly techy. lol
I don't know how much sight you have, but Audacity is great, and also free. It has an extensive toolset, without being overly complicated. It's mostly accessible, even with jaws. But fine-tuning can be hard at times. Sony Sound FOrge is also a spectacular program; also quite accessible except when dealing with things llike audio panning (Making a sound go from left to right and such). Only problem with sound forge is it's not a multi-track editer. This means you can't edit one file on top of another. Only way you can do it is by mixing the two files, which makes editing them individually very difficult.
How exactly do you edit with Audacity? I never got that part.
I use audacity both on PC and mac and it's excellent. Editing is quite straight forward. Left and right arrows move you through the file and adding the shift key starts selecting audio. There's much more to it than that and all of it can be found in the manual.
